A Look Back at the Year That Was: 2020
What a time…to be in the Event Industry
It’s safe to say that 2020 was a year few of us will ever forget. Especially those of us in the event and entertainment industry. Our world came screeching to a halt the second week of March with the cancelling of every major indoor show and tour. As the weeks went on, the cancellations kept coming for well into the year, and the future was anything but certain.
It was a long summer full of what-ifs and what’s next. How was an industry that lost nearly 95% of business in the first two quarters of 2020 going to bounce back and recover from full stop?
As crazy as it was, it was so encouraging to watch the industry adjust and adapt to the ‘new normal’ of every day life. From the re-emergence of the Drive-In concept, plexiglass dividers at the symphony, and virtual events galore, the drive and ability of our friends in the industry to keep things going has been truly inspiring.
In our own world, we had the opportunity to work so many unique events in 2020. We were proud to provide LED screens and ClearCom for the first sporting event in the Atlanta area that welcomed fans (socially distanced of course). We had the chance to work with internationally acclaimed artists on their live stream events, and we had ample opportunity to give our new In the Round space and try all sorts things to make it the best experience possible. We built rigs on rooftops, and turned spaces not normally known as venues into the venues of 2020. The variety of drive-in and outdoor ‘pod’ shows around the area (and beyond) was excellent in the warmer months, and we look forward to the weather change and all of the safely distanced events to come this spring!
As we march on through 2021 and beyond, we encourage you to support your events and entertainment friends. Stay connected and engaged and we’ll do the same.
